Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2026
Beatscout is a free timeline of London electronic music events. We built it to be
privacy-respecting by default: we use no cookies and set no advertising trackers. This page
explains the limited data we do handle and why.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused
analytics tool, to understand how the site is used (for example, which filters people use and how
often events are opened). It is served first-party from this domain.
- No cookies and no browser storage are used for analytics, so no consent banner is needed.
- No persistent identifier is created. Umami derives an anonymous, daily-rotating
visitor hash from your IP address and browser user-agent purely to count unique visits and estimate
approximate location (typically country/region). Your raw IP address is not stored,
and you cannot be tracked across days or across other websites.
- We record aggregate usage events — such as opening an event, applying a filter, or clicking through
to Resident Advisor — along with non-identifying details like the venue name or London area.
- Analytics are processed by Umami Cloud acting as our data processor.
Saved lists and polls
If you save events, your shortlist is kept locally in your browser. If you choose to share
a shortlist or create a poll, the relevant details are stored on our backend so the link
works for the people you share it with:
- Shared shortlists: the events you saved (title, venue, time, flyer) under a random share
code.
- Polls: the poll title, the selected events, and the names and votes that you and your
participants enter. Names are whatever you type in — please don't enter information you wouldn't want others
in the poll to see.
This data is created only when you actively share or create a poll. It is not linked to any analytics profile.
Feedback
If you use the in-app feedback form, we store the message you send and any optional contact detail you
choose to include, so we can read it and reply. Providing contact info is entirely optional.
Data stored in your browser
To make the app work, we keep a small amount of functional data in your browser's local storage — your
saved shortlist, share/edit codes, your last poll, and the voter name you entered. This never leaves your
device except when you choose to share. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings.
Third parties
- Umami Cloud — analytics processing (see above).
- Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery for the site.
- Resident Advisor (ra.co) — links such as
"View on RA" take you to their site, which has its own privacy policy.
Your choices
- Because we use no cookies or persistent identifiers, there is nothing to opt out of for tracking.
- You may use an ad/tracker blocker; the site is designed to work regardless.
- Clear your browser storage to remove your local shortlist and settings.
